The History of Cannabis

The History of Cannabis

Let’s talk a little about the history of cannabis. Politicians in the United States have used cannabis as a tool of division throughout much of the twentieth century. Cannabis and the legislation that attempted to regulate it fueled some of America’s worst prejudices regarding race, ethnicity, and otherness by being used as a scourge from the the border to a corrupting intoxicant of choice for beatniks and hippies.

Cannabis was initially characterized by the federal government as a criminal menace that had to be combated, with accounts of cannabis use originating in Mexico and flowing across the border. The government labeled cannabis a narcotic for inner-city areas and minorities, while also misleading the public about it, resulting in murder, rape, and insanity. Following this, political opponents of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan developed and implemented legislation to target a number of areas across the country.

Communities of color have long been the focal point for America’s cannabis policies. Despite comparable use rates among whites and non-whites, Black Americans are arrested for cannabis offenses at a rate of nearly 4:1, compared to whites. These laws also affect a large number of Americans in a country where over 700,000 cannabis-related arrests are made each year (a figure that was above 800,000 several years ago).

Over the previous several years, officials have passed cannabis prohibition and decriminalization measures in an effort to curb these arrest totals. Arrests have decreased substantially in states that have legalized; however, racial disparities in arrests have remained largely unaffected. Legalization or decriminalization are steps in the correct direction, but they only help to solve the problem now and in the future. The majority of those changes do little to remedy the past.

In an effort to repair the drug war’s mistakes, some states have used record expungement for minor cannabis offenses in order to compensate for those wrongs, according to a recent study. The impact of the Drug War, on the other hand, is more long-lasting and ingrained than record expungement will correct.

However, the future of cannabis legislation in the United States must include expungement (ideally, automatically), as well as more comprehensive measures to assist communities that have been devastated by the War on Drugs. Even after cannabis is legalized, prior arrests cannot be undone, and record expungement does not compensate for the decades of missed educational, occupational, and other related possibilities as a result of that drug arrest. Nor does record expungement support those whose lives have been harmed as a result of a family member’s drug arrest or imprisonment.

There are several ways that state legislation may assist those who were most severely affected by the War on Drugs. The first step is to retrain police in ways that address present and ongoing racial disparities following legalization. Police departments might use the adjustments made to cannabis laws to improve some of the behaviors, decisions, and biases that contribute to unacceptable race gaps in arrest rates.

To provide new and long-term ownership possibilities for people of color and those with prior, low-level cannabis convictions, more effective policies must be put in place to legalize states. Several states have attempted to develop such plans, but they have generally fallen short of expectations.

For decades, the American justice system has taken money and opportunity from individuals. Racism was institutionalized and enforced in specific communities throughout history, and now that cannabis is legal in some states, it’s up to legalization to institute the means for their rehabilitation.

We can’t say will be able to reform the criminal justice system but your support to local hemp companies like ours allows us to make positive impact on the future of these policies. We have a lot of ground to cover if we’re going to legalize cannabis. It helps individuals and has so many natural therapeutic benefits.

We have had an incredible outpour of support and excitement to bring these hemp products to market. We are excited to provide our clients with a personal consultation and education to help you pick the right hemp products.

What is THCA and the benefits?2022-12-17T16:17:11+00:00

THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is a cannabinoid found in raw, unheated cannabis. It is the precursor to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the psychoactive compound found in cannabis that is responsible for its characteristic effects on the body and mind.

THCA has a number of potential health benefits, although most of the research on these benefits is still in the early stages and more research is needed to fully understand its effects. Some of the potential benefits of THCA include:

  • Anti-inflammatory effects: Some studies have suggested that THCA may have anti-inflammatory effects, which could be beneficial for conditions like arthritis and Crohn’s disease.
  • Neuroprotective effects: Some research has suggested that THCA may have neuroprotective effects and may be beneficial for conditions like Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
  • Anti-nausea effects: THCA has been shown to have anti-nausea effects in animal studies, and it may be useful for reducing nausea and vomiting in humans.
  • Analgesic effects: Some studies have suggested that THCA may have analgesic (pain-relieving) effects, which could be useful for reducing pain in people with chronic pain conditions.

It’s important to note that most of the research on the potential health benefits of THCA is still in the early stages and more research is needed to fully understand its effects. As with any dietary supplement, it is important to speak with a healthcare provider before using THCA or any other cannabinoid-based product. Also, these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Sources and research done on THCA

  1. “Anti-inflammatory effects of THCA in activated microglial cells” (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5877698/) is a study published in the Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology that investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of THCA in activated microglial cells, which are a type of immune cell found in the brain and spinal cord.
  2. “THCA protects against MPTP neurotoxicity in mice” (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6911442/) is a study published in the journal Experimental Neurology that examined the neuroprotective effects of THCA in mice with Parkinson’s disease.
  3. “THCA-A, a component of the Cannabis sativa plant, is a potent antiemetic in rat models” (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5312634/) is a study published in the journal Neuropharmacology that investigated the anti-nausea effects of THCA in rat models.
  4. “THCA reduces chronic pain and improves sleep in a subject with chronic pain syndrome” (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7261530/) is a case report published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology that describes the use of THCA in a patient with chronic pain syndrome and reports improvement in pain and sleep.
What is Delta-8 THC?2022-11-21T23:59:08+00:00

Delta-8 is a relatively new cannabinoid that has recently emerged. It has neuroprotective qualities that can help reduce anxiety, pain, and nausea. Delta-8 is less powerful than delta-9, the major form of THC in cannabis. To understand delta-8 better, let’s go over some ground regarding cannabis and THC.

Cannabis is home to a wide range of cannabinoids. These naturally occurring chemicals bind with receptors in the body to provide a variety of physiological, emotional, and mental impacts. THC and cannabidiol are the most common cannabinoids (THC is the psychotropic component of the cannabis plant). The psychoactive component of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol.

However, there are others that can be found in the legal cannabis community. CBD is one of them. While it does have some psychoactive effects, it is not intoxicating. Despite the fact that CBD is legal, THC is not. This is because CBD derives from hemp cultivated with 0.3 percent or less THC content.

The extraction technique is known as “winterization” is used to make delta-8 from CBD extracts. This is why it’s allowed in many places since it comes from legal hemp plants used to produce CBD.

What are the benefits of Delta-8 THC?

According to the National Cancer Institute, delta-8 THC can bind to CB1 receptors throughout the body. These receptors are part of our endocannabinoid system, which aids in maintaining physiological equilibrium. “Homeostasis” is a technical term that refers to bodily balance.

Delta 8 does not bind as strongly to the receptor as delta-9 THC, so it doesn’t trigger the same response. This helps it deliver a number of advantages that appear to be strong, so let’s look at the most important ones below.

1. Neuroprotective properties of Delta-8 for a healthier brain

Delta-8 THC also appears to help people produce acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. This neurotransmitter is responsible for memory, learning, cognitive function, and even arousal. There are several advantages of delta-8 THC over other forms of cannabis:

2. Has been shown to stimulate appetite and makes you eat correctly

In 2004, scientists dug into delta-8’s appetite control impact. They found that even small doses of delta-8 increased food intake, according to the study.

3. Little or no nausea thanks to its antiemetic effects

The American Cancer Society reports that patients taking cannabis for chemotherapy-induced nausea had a 100 percent success rate in reducing their discomfort after undergoing 480 treatments.

4. Analgesic properties – which means less pain to no pain overall

Delta-8 has been shown in studies to help alleviate some of the pain that people endure. Delta-8 can relieve pain to some extent, since it has an analgesic effect.

Those who suffer from neuropathy and inflammation, in particular, may get the most benefit; however, those with diverse types of pain can also profit.

5. Delta-8 helps a lot with anxiety symptoms with its anxiolytic effects

According to research, Delta 8 binds to CB1 receptors in the body. It has also been reported to bind to CB2 receptors, as well as other cannabinoid receptor types. The fact that it binds is what allows the cannabinoid to help the body better regulate pain and anxiety.

It has anxiolytic effects that help to alleviate anxiety symptoms and produce a relaxing wave of calm.

How does Delta-8 make you feel?

The most frequently asked question is probably self-evident: what exactly does delta 8 do? What’s the distinction between this THC and the one that’s still federally illegal? Fortunately, we’ve got all of the answers right here.

Before we get started, it’s important to remember that everyone is different. The circumstances that someone who uses delta 8 might have are unlikely to be the same as yours, so proceed with caution if you’re a first-time user.

By “the first user,” however, we mean a first-time cannabis user in general. If you’ve used delta-9 THC previously or any other marijuana product, you’ll probably have an idea what to anticipate. It might appear to be strong if you have nothing to compare it to.

It’s a mellow high that you’ll want to lie down and relax with. Delta 8 smokers report the high to be incredibly soothing, putting them in a calm state. They are still able to think clearly and handle tasks throughout the day. A sense of satisfaction and chill relaxation washes over them.

Delta-8 THC has also been shown to have some detrimental effects, including an increased appetite (also known as the munchies), which is thought to help with certain types of pain. While it does not work for everyone, some individuals are pleasantly surprised by how effectively it relieves their symptoms.

In conclusion, when you’re consuming delta 8, you can expect one or more of the following things to occur:
  • Makes you feel as though you’re weightless.
  • It stimulates your energy levels and helps you concentrate.
  • Makes the user feel relaxed and calm, yet clearheaded.
  • It stimulates hunger, which can assist with the desire to eat.
  • Relaxes you to the core.

While these are the most frequent types of encounters that people have, you may feel differently. Have you ever used Delta 8 before? Was your experience similar to others’ accounts of a pleasant, chill time?

Gary Payton2022-12-17T16:36:24+00:00

“Gary Payton” is a hybrid strain that is named after the former professional basketball player Gary Payton. The genetics of this strain is not widely known, but it is believed to be a cross between The White (a hybrid strain) and OG Kush (a potent indica strain).

Gary Payton is known for its potent effects and high THC content. It is often described as producing a relaxing, euphoric high that can help to alleviate stress and anxiety. Some users also report that it can help to improve focus and creativity. This strain is often used by individuals seeking relief from conditions such as chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia.

It’s important to note that the effects of cannabis strains can vary widely and are influenced by a variety of factors, including the specific genetics of the strain, the growing conditions, and the way it is consumed. It is always important to use cannabis responsibly and to start with a small dose to gauge its effects.

What is Delta-10 THC?2022-11-21T23:40:07+00:00

Delta-10 is a cannabinoid present in trace amounts of THC in the cannabis plant. It can make you high just like delta-9 THC—delta-8—but it’s less powerful. This makes it comparable to delta-8, another cannabinoid that is less powerful than regular THC.

Delta-8 was “very popular” and had “taken off,” according to Roger Brown, president and CEO of ACS Laboratory, a lab that tests hemp-derived goods from all 50 states. We’re now seeing it in “in a significant amount” of items being tested, he explains.

Delta-10 is a chemical that can be found in hemp-derived CBD. Delta-8 is also a chemical that can be found in hemp-derived CBD. Some states have outlawed delta-10 because it has marijuana in it. However, it is legal here in the state of North Carolina.

Cannabinoids are often found in vape carts, gummies, or other formulations. Hempie’s in Raleigh has it!

What does Delta-10 do?

Delta-10 is a strain produced by crossbreeding Delta-9 and Delta-8, resulting in a strain that’s 10.5% THC by volume. It can make you high, although it has less power than regular delta-9 THC. According to anecdotal reports, delta-10 is known to provide energizing effects, whereas delta-8. A lot of people say it is great for anxiety without the other effects regular Delta-9 has.

“To put it another way,” Brown added, “delta-8 is comparable to an indica while delta-10 is more like a sativa. They have distinct vibes. Delta-8 has been used by folks who want to take a sleep pill, for example, whereas delta-10 gives you more creativity or energy.

These effects are not based on any scientific research; additional study is required on these compounds. Furthermore, each individual has unique body chemistry, and chemicals may have different effects on individuals. We recommend trying it in small amounts until you find the right dose that works for you.

How is Delta-10 made?

We’ve previously mentioned the scarcity of strains in this cannabinoid, as well as how much effort it takes to get them produced.

But what exactly does it entail to undertake this task? You may produce any difference you desire by utilizing simple CBD or CBD isolate (their chemical changes). If you’re using CBD crude, you’ll need Vitamin C and carbon derivatives. However, isolates, solvents, and acids are all utilized in the process.

It’s made the same way as delta-8 is, with the use of catalysts to produce a lot of an otherwise rare cannabinoid.

After the final product is completed, it can be lab tested like other hemp products. The technique for doing so is called Ultra-High-Performance, Liquid Chromatography, which employs specialist equipment to verify the concentration of delta-10 in tinctures, edibles, and flowers.

Labcorp also may implement procedures to ensure that CBL and CBC aren’t mistakenly identified as delta-10, which is a more powerful and authorized version.

Where did you get Delta-10?

Delta-10 is just getting started, but I’m really excited to be a part of it. If you’ve enjoyed CBD gummies, tinctures, and vapes but want something more powerful, delta-10 may be the answer. Hempie’s has Delta-10 in Raleigh NC.

What is CBD?2022-11-21T00:18:57+00:00

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of over a hundred chemicals found in the cannabis family that belongs to a class of compounds known as cannabinoids. CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which are usually present in the highest amounts, are the most well-known and researched cannabinoids.

The ratio and quantity of CBD and THC in cannabis varies from strain to strain. Cannabis cultivated for recreational purposes generally has higher THC levels than CBD. Hemp, on the other hand, has a higher CBD content than THC.

When many people hear the phrase “medical marijuana,” they may think that any medical advantage derived is limited to THC, marijuana’s mind-altering component that makes you “high.” This belief, which is widespread, is incorrect.

THC, on the other hand, has been proven to have several health benefits (and if you choose, you may take advantage of them). It’s conceivable that the majority of marijuana’s potential healthcare benefit can be found in the CBD cannabinoid. CBD oil does not produce a high like THC does. This is especially great news for people who live in states

The Clinical Advantages of Hemp-Derived CBD Oil

A clinical advantage of hemp-derived CBD for doctors and medical practitioners who want to maximize the therapeutic effects of cannabinoid-based medicines while minimizing euphoric side effects is that it reduces inflammation.

While doctors who prescribe medical marijuana must ensure that the CBD/THC ratio of the medication being given to their patients is correct, they must also keep an eye on the THC dose in order to avoid unwanted psychological effects.

When THC is needed for medical purposes, it’s not uncommon for doctors to prescribe a CBD-Only product in conjunction with a THC product to improve dosage precision. CBD, when combined with THC, can be used to reduce the euphoric effects of THC due to its anti-psychotic qualities.

The Medical Benefits of CBD Oil – Cannabidiol

Nature was mankind’s pharmacy before the creation of modern-day pharmaceuticals. Cannabis has been used as a medicine since at least 2700 B.C., according to Emperor Shen Nung, considered to be the Father of Chinese Medicine and the inventor of acupuncture, who recommended it for more than 100 ailments.

Cannabis has been used as a natural healing medication for thousands of years.

Despite the long-term ban on cannabis and the misguided fear-mongering perpetrated by well-intentioned but ignorant lawmakers – doctors, scientists, and politicians are now discovering what our ancestors have known all along – nature has some powerful healing capabilities.

Cannabis has rapidly become one of the most researched plants in history, thanks to a growing number of US states allowing its medical use.
